Funding structure
  • The scholarship covers tuition fees and provides an annual maintenance bursary of £8,000, paid in two instalments.
  • It also includes access to peer and professional mentoring.
Eligibility breakdown
  • Applicants must be prospective Home (UK) students, resident in the UK, identify as Black or Black British, have a household income of £35,000 or less.
  • Have an offer or be awaiting a decision for a full-time undergraduate programme at the University of Bristol in 2026/27.
  • They must have submitted an application to their regional student funding authority with a full household income assessment and consented to share information with the University.
Selection criteria
  • Applications are prioritised based on free school meal status, care leaver status, disability status, estranged student status, first generation to attend Higher Education status, Indices of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) status based on home postcode, and the personal statement.
Restrictions
  • Recipients must apply for a means-tested government maintenance loan annually and maintain a household income below £35,000.
Timeline
  • The outcome of applications will be announced after A-Level results day, which is 13 August 2026.
Competitiveness
  • Two scholarships are available for 2026 entry.
